Our vision and values
Our vision is to be a grace-saturated, gospel-centered church that makes disciples of Jesus who love and serve God and others. This moves us to share our lives with one another in community, to worship together as one family on the Lord's Day, and to be faithful to Jesus by maintaining a redemptive posture in the culture he has called us to.
So, Grace Christian Fellowship is not merely a service, or a one-stop Sunday shop, but a counter-cultural, missionary community that seeks the glory of God and the good of our neighbors in every sphere of life, through the proclamation and demonstration of the gospel.
At Grace Christian Fellowship we endeavor to maintain gospel-centrality.
We are gospel-centered because the gospel stands at the center of God’s redemptive plan, and in it we see Him most clearly for who He is and what He has done. We never graduate from or outgrow the gospel. It is the very work of God for salvation from beginning to end. (Rom. 1:16-17) This means that the gospel itself is not one of our core values; rather it is that which leads us to a certain set of values.
Grace is the gospel. God’s grace is unmerited, undeserved favor. It is God’s kindness and graciousness to us without regard to the worth or merit of those who receive it, and without their deserving it. We are saved entirely by grace and all we are now is the result of that grace. “By the grace of God I am what I am.” (1 Cor. 15:10)
We value the gospel as the truth. The truth is the revealed nature and will of God, and as Jesus Christ who said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (Jn. 14:6)
The gospel unites us to God and we therefore value worship as the church gathered around the word and sacrament, and as a life of faith lived for the glory and pleasure of God.
As the gospel unites us to one another we value community as the way God intends us to live as the church. This means we place a high priority on Community meetings and personal relationships.
In the gospel Jesus sends us, as the church, into the world to make disciples of all nations. We are a missional church that seeks to see the gospel spread locally and globally.
Through the gospel God brings restoration to humanity and creation itself. We work for this restoration through the preaching of the gospel, and we demonstrate that hope of restoration through works of mercy.
